Lone Parent Families
| There
are 3,584 households in Rotherham headed by a lone parent. This is 3.7% of all households, a figure similar to the national figure of 3.8%. The highest proportion of Lone Parent Families are found in Herringthorpe (8.6%), Dalton, Hooton Roberts and Thrybergh (5.6%) and Park (5.2%). The lowest proportions are in Broom (1.8%), Bramley, Ravenfield and Wickersley (1.9%) and Kiveton Park (2.4%). Lone parent families are 11.2% of all families with children and contain 11.6% of all children under 16 years of age. 92.5% of lone parents are female, of whom 26.7% are in employment. Of the male lone parents, 44.1% are in employment. 23.5% are aged between 16 - 24 years. In addition, there are 710 "concealed" lone parent families who live as part of one household with another family. |
