Lone Parents site is labour of love
When
James O'Neill started his working life as a carpenter, he never
dreamed he would end up working as a webmaster.
A complete change in his personal life meant O'Neill ended up
becoming a sole parent to his son Dean, who is now eight years
of age.
Restricted by the Lone Parents allowance to working just 20 hours
a week he found himself lonely and bored, with little to do apart
from using his home PC.
A keen internet user, he even used it to learn how to kont Dean's
tie for his recent Holy Communion, O'Neill decided to start his
own website aimed at other lonely lone parents.
The result is www.solo.ie which has close to 600 pages of practical
information and has attracted over 2,336 visitors since March.
For just £200 and no help from advertisers, James O'Neill
has drawn together information from government departments, offers
free space to other lone parent groups, and social aspects including
a message board where parents can ask questions and get advice
from others.
